Physician Assistant Rotations

PA rotations abroad medical Spanish immersion

Physician Assistant rotations at The Medical elective Network are the ideal opportunity for PA professionals and students in the clinical phase of their program to take a clinical rotation abroad that they can combine with an excellent medical Spanish immersion program.

Most months we recieve PA students or professionals.  We work with students from Physician Assistant programs accross the US and are familiar with their requirements of minimum working hours and affiliation agreements etc.  We welcome faculty visits from any program prior to sending students.

Clinical Rotations

Physician Assistant rotations take place at different hospitals in Trujillo, offering different clinical experiences.  For example, Emergency Medicine at the Regional Teaching Hospital or Family Medicine at a community hospital.

Regardless of your chosen area of medicine you will be working under supervision and be experiencing health care provision abroad.

Most rotations take place 8 am to 12 noon, followed by the medical Spanish program 2.30 pm to 6.30 pm.  However, some rotations including Emergency Medicine may also involve the occasional night shift or afternoon.  In these cases you can join the morning language program.

Medical Spanish for Physician Assistants

The  medical Spanish immersion program in Trujillo takes place each afternoon.  Beginner level medical Spanish students also have the option of taking an additional 2 hours in the morning to speed up their language development.

The team of language teachers provide courses at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.  Each program level is 4 weeks, which is ideal for many PA rotation periods.  We do welcome students for longer or shorter time periods.

Accredited program for professionals

Professional Physician Assistants can benefit from up to 108.25 CME credits the program has been accredited with by the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Do please take a look at our testimonial page where we have included several PA testimonials.

Community Health Fairs

The community health fairs we run each month are a wonderful opportunity Physical Assistant professionals and students who wish to practice both their clinical skills and developing Spanish skills.  Typically program participant groups will see over 100 patients with a variety of ailments.

As you can imagine, this is more direct exposure to patients than you will see on a typical hospital rotation.  You will be accompanied by local health professionals and may be seeing patients on a public square or even a local prison.

If your PA program want us to develop a community health fair program for a group of visiting students we are happy to work with them to facilitate this.
