Family Homestay in Peru
Living at a family homestay in Peru is the only real option for those looking to improve their Spanish skills and experience a cultural immersion.
Living with our homestay families is one of the most popular parts of our programs. This immersion is where we differ from some elective and Spanish language learning organizations who place participants in shared rooms in a building full of other English speaking students.
We want participants to immerse themselves into the Spanish language and Peruvian culture, and have the most enriching experience possible. For this reason, our families only accept a maximum of 4 students.
Our homestay families
The thought of staying with a family in South America may seem a little daunting. However, you really have nothing to be worried about.
In Trujillo, our students stay in private rooms with great local families, all located within a 10-minute walk of our center. The families are all professional households, from a variety of backgrounds including university professors, company managers, and social workers.
In most households, there is someone with a little English, but most family members have none. This is ideal for developing your Spanish language skills while at home. Our program participants and we consider our families to be providing an extra Spanish program each day.
We choose our families partly because they are local to us, but more importantly because they take an interest in our students. Many have worked with us for years, and still, retain friendships with program participants who stayed with them years before. You will see many of our families mentioned on our testimonial page.
